Default how to address someone in an email???

If you do not know the gender of the person you are emailing to - how do you address that person - do you put the full name of that person "Alex Smith"

for example - in an email I usually type

    "Mr. Jamieson" or "Ms. Dhillon"

If you have the full name, you should be able to get the gender- try sites like Behind the Name: the Meaning, Etymology and History of First Names

Usually, but that won't work for names like Alex (or Evelyn, Pat,...).

You can try to find out their sex, but in an email I think you can just begin with "Hi Alex," or "Hello,".

If you need to refer to that person later in the email, you can just say "you" or use their full name.
