I would like to know what differences you find in these two sentences:

This novel was written by G.

This novel has been written by G.

Was written is the passive form of past simple & Has been written is passive form of present perfect.

They are both passive, but "was written" referred to something generally placed in the past, not connected with the present, whereas "has been written" is something happened in the past, but still connected with present. The second expression is then a past of the present.:up:
