    Default Standard English

    "Standard English is the best English and any deviation from its norm involves a lowering of standards."

    How true is this statement??

    Language evolves over time, because we're not machines. Rules guide us. They don't control us, nor should we allow them to.

    It's very judgmental. Many would disagree with it completely. Standard English is, IMO, the most widely understood, which makes it very useful, but deviations are not necessarily inferior.
