    even though

    Dears Teachers,

I would like to say “Can I exchange the book, even though I wrote in it” without the word “though.” Can I say something like “Can I exchange the book, even I had written in it?”

    Thanks in advance

    Re: even though

Though is the important word here. It conveys the essential meaning of notwithstanding or in spite of the fact. The word even is optional.

Though we played our best, we lost the game.
Even though we played our best, we lost the game.
Although we played our best, we lost the game.

All three of these sentences mean the same thing.
