Dear Teachers,

I know from a grammar book that the question is correct:

Which is the highest mountain in the world?

I'd like to find out if the following question is also correct and natural for you:

Which mountain is the highest in the world?

Thank you very much for your help,

Ania

Ania,

(1) As for me, it would be more natural to ask:

What is the highest mountain in the world?

(I think it's Mount Everest.)

(2) Perhaps which is more appropriate if there is a selection:

Here is a list of 10 tall mountains. Which one is the highest?

(3) More examples:

What language has the biggest vocabulary? English does.

What is the best country in the world? Of course, ____ is.
