    and, or, but, for, so, nor, yet

    They are used after commas to make compound sentences (where you have more than one idea).

    Example: I have not completed my homework, so I will not go to the movie.

    *If you are using the conjunctions like this, the parts of the sentence on either side of the comma and conjunction must be able to stand alone as sentences (both must have their own subjects and verbs).
