    meaning of post

    good morning sir,
    1.

    it is satya.The meaning of post(position in office) confusing me because it has meaning in oxford dictionary such as job,position in office but confusion is that what is the mean of position in office and job but problem is that job and position in office is similar meaning.

    2.

    The person who runs shop.------- shopkeeper.

    sir i would like to ask what is word 'shopkeeper'. if it is not name of that person, what is it.

    2. 'keep' means 'have', so shopkeeper- a person who has a shop, the owner of the shop.

    A job doesn't have to be in an office, so it has a wider meaning. A person's post is the official name given to the work they do.
