stepped back on the unfinished part the attic

here's the complete sentence of it
"so you stepped back on the unfinished part of the attic and fell through the ceiling" the story behind this sentence is ramona was shoved unwillingly in a small door in daisy's closet which is the entrance to the attic. the one who is doing the talking is ramona's big sister..

so i don't get why ramona's sister have to say "you stepped back on..." instead of jus saying you "stepped on"

Re: stepped back on the unfinished part the attic

"You stepped back on" makes it more specific.
