need to be done= should be done or must be done?

"A bunch of things needs to be done." Would you interpret it as "must be done" or "should be done"?

It would depend on context and tone of voice. (I wouldn't use "bunch").

It could be used for both depending on a connotation? Do British people use "need to be..."?

Some would say that these two options differ very little. I would, however, interpret this as "must be done." I use "should be" as a recommendation, advice or just a good idea. Wait for other replies, which may differ from this one.
