I would like to know the difference between "1" and "2".
    1. This is my happy hour.
    2. This happens to be my happy hour.

    not a teacher

    Partly, it's for stress, accent.
It's like saying 'This IS my happy hour'... Dagwood is happy at home with his family, though happy hour happens at the bar.
You might hear: This just happens to be my swan song.
Meaning - It isn't a real swan song, but what happens to pass, or substitute for one in the individual's life.

    It's a play on words.

Here's the definition of happy hour. You don't have to be happy during the happy hour at the pub. It just means the drinks are cheap(er).

In the last panel, the character says "This is my happy hour" (my would be stressed as noted above), which means "this is the hour when I'm happy" (having dinner with his family makes him happy).

The play on the words is in taking the word "happy" in "happy hour" literally -- hour when you're actually happy.

*Disclaimer: I never read this comic strip so my interpretation is based solely on the panels provided

The comic strip is "Blondie," which has been running since the early 1930's. It was also made into a popular radio series which was broadcast during the 1940's.
