    Default idioms meaning "to experience failure"

    Hi everybody,

    I have found the idioms, meaning "to experience failure" in Russian dictionary:

    To slip on a banana skin;
    To draw a blank;
    To hit the buffers;
    To have had one’s chips;
    To come a cropper.

    Do you know (use) them? And how often?
    Do you know another idioms with such meaning?

    Many Thanks to everyone!
    Olya

    Never heard any of these except "to draw a blank", which means to forget something or not have a response if you're asked something. Doesn't mean failure to me.

    The teacher asked me what the capital of Canada is and I drew a blank. (couldn't think of it)
