Hello, i am a 35 year old intelligent English male. I am considering starting a career as English language teacher and doing an intensive CELTA course at IH Budapest in July or August.
Question is will i be able to have a decent career without a degree?
I am not looking to work in China, Japan or anywhere like that. I would be looking at places like Eastern Europe or Central/South Amercia later on when i had some experience. Would i be able to do this?
Thanks for any advice
Jack

There are places where you will be able to find work without a degree. Some countries specify a degree, others don't. It will restrict your possibilities to an extent, and the countries and schools you can work in, but it doesn't make things impossible.

Many times it's actually not the school that has a degree requirement, it's the country itself - i.e. it's not possible to hire foreign talent without university degrees. China is such a country.

Right schools and countries have different requirements. I taught in China and I knew a bunch of people teaching there without degrees. It's so weird there, public schools hire "companies" to find them teachers kinda like recruiters, but more since the company involves hiring, firing and paying the teacher. Illegal work is out there.
