    It was fireworks...

Is it correct to say " when I approached the light I (discovered?) it was only fireworks"; or should I say "they were fireworks" or i"t was a firework"?

    Re: It was fireworks...

Fireworks is a collective noun that usually appears in the plural form. It was fireworks is perfectly good English.
