    ***** NOT A TEACHER *****

    (1) Thank you, Birdeen's Call, for calling my attention to that sentence.

    (2) Thank you, Fivejedjon, for teaching me the correct way to phrase that

    idea.

    (3) An excellent example to the thread starter of how one improves through

    practice.

    (a) I shall now be sure to brag correctly about my only language:

It has a larger vocabulary than any other language.

Don't be discouraged. It's always difficult at the beginning. You may want to try easier texts first. Here are some very easy texts: Easy Reading for ESL Beginners. If you look at the top of each page, you will notice an audio player. You can turn the sound on and off, as you prefer.

After reading some of those texts, please tell us if they suit you. Are they OK or too easy?

Regarding your writing, it's OK to think about what you want to write. With time, you will notice that some words start coming to your mind very quickly.

I think reading is vital, too. By reading, you can gradually form a sense of the target language, and avoid making up wrong expressions according to your own imagination. Enlarge the language input, and your writing can become better of itself.

If I were in the US, I'd seize every opportunity to learn new words and expressions and, which is also important, how to use them. Reading books/magazines, listening to the radio, watching TV/movies and enrolling on a writing course are some good ways to broaden and refine your skills. In a nutshell, expose yourself to as much authentic English as possible. The process of learning shouldn't be passive though; you and your skills will benefit from writing down and memorizing collocations, fixed phrases, idioms and larger chunks of language. Set yourself a goal of using at least 3/4/5/... new words and expressions in every single piece of writing. Translating something from your native language into English could also enrich your vocabulary and boost your command of the language.
    Good luck!

And I hope you'll hear one day: "You have a magical way with words!"

i agree with you in all the things that you have mentioned. however, learning English takes time and efforts, it's not easy as you think. but i wish all of us can speak and write as good as native speakers.

    NOT A TEACHER

    (1) As you can see from the mistake that I made in my first post,

all of us spend our whole lives trying to improve in the use of

    our first language.

    (2) For learners, it can be even more difficult. I am sure, however,

that little by little you will become fluent in English.

    (3) May I most respectfully point out a little mistake in

your note? It is better to say:

I want to write as well as native speakers.

As you remember from your studies, "well" = adverb (how you do something.)

"Good" = adjective (describes a noun).

Of course, native speakers make the same mistake. Someday do not

be surprised if an American says to you:

Wow, tks!!!! You speak English real good!!! (Instead of "very well" or

    or "really well").

    Have a nice day.
