    All the parts of the speech are described here: The Parts of Speech

    Click on the "what is a ...?" links on the left side menu.

    Also, if you look up a word in a dictionary, you'll find that the entry will list what part of the speech the word is. Often the same word can belong to different categories, depending on how it's used (ex. walk can be a noun).
