    Default decent establishments

    Dear Teachers,

    Sorry to ask again :)

It's hard for me to get the meaning of this phrase:

“We'll be friends. For fucking forever and ever," I vowed filmly and got up to give a group hug.
“Enough, guys, this is a decent establishments,” Ryan said and we sat back, laughing an embarrased laugh.

I've searched in online dictionaries but couldn't find the exact definition. Thanks for your help :)

    Where are the characters?

An establishment is a business. For example, a restaurant, cafe, or pub.

Decent establishment = there's nothing illegal or "obscene" or morally questionable going on in it. It's family friendly.

I guess the joke is that the gushing expressions of friendship and group hugs are too much for a decent place.

    ***** A NON-TEACHER's COMMENT *****

I recently read that two men were asked to leave a pub ("bar"

in American English) in the United Kingdom because they were

kissing each other. Apparently, the pub did not want to lose

its reputation as a "decent establishment."

    Respectfully yours,

    James

The use of the F word isn't welcome at a decent place, either.

True. I read the phrase as a joke.
