We learn in grammar that when the action started a while before the time of speakinig and continues (also in the negative) up to that moment (with for or since), you have to use a perfect tense.
Now, I found this sentence that puzzled me:
I don't smoke anymore since quite recently,
because, applying the rule, I would have said
I haven't smoked anymore since quite recently
Am I wrong?
