    NOT A TEACHER

    1. He (pronoun) + is (linking verb) + a (adjective/determiner) + horrible (adjective) + thief (noun).

We say that "a horrible thief" refers to the subject "He."

"is" links "He" and "a horrible thief."

Some languages do not have linking verbs.

    They just say:

He a horrible thief. (He = a horrible thief)

    *****

    2. They + are + hardworking + farmers.

    (They = hardworking farmers.)

    3. He + is + an + honest + mechanic.

    (He = an honest mechanic.)

The above is only my opinion.

They don't modify the job, they name the job.

I'm sorry I don't understand what you're saying. Can you rephrase?
