    in/of a year

Tim always gets a gift from her mom at the end of/in the year.

Which is right, in or of?

    Thank you.

Whose mom? If she is Tim's mom, you have to say "his mom," not "her mom."

Tim and Mary are good friends. Tim always gets a gift from her mom at the end of the year.
If the mom is Mary's, "her mom" is correct.
