Default a resident from mercy just take a job there.?

They are talking about a hospital to try to find some evidence from there, and Jim happens to remember some connection from a resident(maybe a doctor) at his work related to there. I can't understand the underlined as it's grammatically wrong or what does "from mercy" mean?
What does the whole sentence mean?

    -ghost whisperer
Jim- but that's the symbol for haliston county hospital.
    Melinda
    - Are you sure?
    Jim
    - Yeah. We had a resident from mercy just take a job there.
Mel - So that's where jason was born.

Mercy probably refers to the name of the hospital. It's a popular hospital name:

A resident is someone who's training to be a doctor and is working in a hospital as part of their training.

We had a resident from mercy (who) just take a job there.
There should be "who", even with it, take doesn't make sense=> takes..
It's all confusing, do you know why I am?
