Default Why does father misunderstood in this situation?

    Hello

    ----------------------------------------------------------
[Dan's cell phone rings,he takes a look at the new text message: Jenny (Mobile), Sep 24, 2007,3:15:23 PM, HELP: EMERGENCY. 712 5TH AVE.]
Dan Hey dad, listen, uhm, I got to run. You'll be ok?
Rufus Yeah. You'll mom will be back. She's always been a free spirit. That's one of the reasons I fell for her in the first place.
Dan I meant with the flyers.
Rufus Luckily, staple guns are old-school. Go, I'm gonna be fine.
    ----------------------------------------------------------
This is script from Gossip Girl Season1 Ep1

In this situation, Rufus said about his wife. But Dan said "the flyers"
When Dan said, "I got to run. You'll be ok?", how can it have dual or double meanings?

I am not familiar with the show Gossip Girls, but I assume Rufus is Dan's father.

Dan meant: "You'll be OK hanging up the flyers by yourself?"

But Rufus thought Dan meant: "You'll be OK even though your wife is missing, which is causing you emotional pain?"

In AmE, a "flyer" in this instance is an informational notice printed on a piece of paper. It can be an advertisement for a local sale or a band's performance or a notice of a lost pet. In the case of this Gossip Girls episode, the son is helping his dad post flyers on telephone poles and other public places to advertise his dad's band "Lincoln Hawk." The son mentions at one point to his dad that he could save time and save trees by advertising his band on the Internet via MySpace and Facebook instead of printing out paper flyers. Then when son is called away, he asks his dad if he will be able to carry on without his help. "Staple guns are old school" dad assures him. "Old school" is a slang term that means old-fashioned or something dating back several decades. Dad is telling his son that even though he's not comfortable negotiating the Internet, he is able to affix the posters around town on his own.
