    Default Is this sentence correct?

I'm listening to Michael Jackson's Heal the World, and in the song he sings “And the dream we were conceived in will reveal a joyful face." But I don’t understand this sentence.

That’s because the part of “we were conceived in” doesn’t make sense to me. I mean, I don’t know why it has to be “were conceived.” I guess the sentence means that the dream we’ve always thought of will reveal a joyful face (or appear), then it would be all right to say the dream we’ve conceived will reveal a joyful face. Many translations are only a summary and doesn’t explain about idiomatic phrase. What do you interpret the part? How come it has to be passive form? The part of "we were conceived in" explains "the dream," right? We were conceived in a dream and the dream will reveal a joyful face? I'm totally confused.

Please listen to the "Heal the World" and help me with my English. Thank you.

That's how I would read it. What it means is a mystery.

Michael Jackson was a good dancer.

Thank you for writing. But May I ask you more? Since I'm not a native speaker of English, I'm confused when someone corrects my English. I just can't figure out if she/he corrects my English because my English is not correct or it's all right English but it doesn't flow.
When you English speakers hear the sentence "the dream we were dreamed in will reveal a joyful face," does it sound poetic and it has many interepretations and a sort of controversial even among native speakers?
    Thank you in advance.

It's certainly poetic. I wouldn't say it's "controversial," but it is open to interpretation. There is no clear, undeniable meaning. Even the author of the words may be surprised by what listeners make of them.

We were thought up - conceived, in a dream - a happyface dream.
Makes perfect sense here. A+ , Michael.

Japanese translations I checked on Internet are all wrong. They are all translated that we thought up a dream and they've made me confused. But it's possible that the dream made us and it will reveal its joyful face. Thanks to two of you, I've finally been able to understand the sentence. Thank you so much.
