    Default frankly trotting

    Hi

Wesley Baines opened a cupboard and produced a suitcase,
and Miss Mayfield put into it the things she had
collected, and by that time Dr Macdonald now frankly
    trotting returned.

What does "frankly" mean here? I take it to mean that this time he returned really trotting (as opposed to walking).

Frankly; in an open manner. Not trying to hide the fact that he was in a great hurry.
