According to the following, do unversities and many successful consulting firms want to make some sales relationship with their alumni or clients? What kind of actual relationship would they like with alumni and clients?

ex)We know that people don't stay in one job forever, nor should they. Companies do fail, sometimes because of bad management and sometimes because the marketplace isn't buying, but that doesn't matter. The point is that fostering collaboration is so crucial to the success of teams, companies, and communities today that every significant relationship should be treated as if it'll last a lifetime-as if it will be important to the success in the future. Universities and many successful consulting firms trade on this attitude in their treatment of alumni and clients. Everyone of them is viewed as a potential source of good will and good business. They begin with the assumption that in the future they'll be interacting with the person in some way. As a result, the whole society is better served.

NOT A TEACHER

Consider it this way:

Every student should be viewed as an important lifelong member of the university as every client should be treated as lifelong good busines. This placing of importance upon every individual is a key factor in fostering the collaboration that is so crucial for a business or a university to achieve greater success, from which society as a whole will benefit.

Yes. Universities are very careful to cultivate good relationships with alumni (graduates of the school) and clients (companies that provide services to the school). They are ensuring good will and professional friendships so that when graduates of that university are looking for jobs, they'll have the "inside track" for positions at certain companies. The university is then able to advertise "60 percent of our graduates get jobs at Fortune 500 companies like....(and then will list a number of very pretigious corporations)." As a result, this will entice more students to enroll at that university, which means the school receives that much more money in tuition and other fees.

My alma mater sends me an email newsletter once a month with the latest news of the university, its graduates and the number of Nobel prizes they gained since the last newsletter, the colleges and departments - and either a plea to offer placements to interns or a plea for a couple of million pounds, or both.

Thanks a lot! But one thing not 100% clear is if "good will" that is favor or kindness is from the universities or companies to their alumini or clients or the other way around. I guess it's from the universities or companies or both ways.
And last thing, why is the whole society better served? As you said, as a result, the universities benefit, the students benefit, and the companies trying to get competent applicants also benefit making win-win relationship for all. Right?
