    Default The guiding principle

Please, check if the following passage is grammatically correct. Thanks!

Although these tribes have been inspired by the priest, and sometimes have won his support and advice, they could have presumably managed without him. The priest's importance in recent years hasn't therefore been in his very existence but in his legacy, that is to say - in his world-view and ideology, to which he has preached. The priest has passed on his ideology to his successors and thus, in this respect, his death does not change anything since his legacy will continue to serve as the guiding principle for his followers.
