    Default [fun] Sayings and quotes

    Hello.

Here I have some sayings and quotes that originally came to me in my mother tongue. And I decided to put an effort translating them into English. At first I'm trying to find them out in the Internet and if I can't I'll ask here for your help. If you find some sayings or quotes amusing or smart, I would appreciate your comment on that. If you feel you are familiar with a saying or a quote I would also appreciate any comment you might have. That's about it. I hope we'll have a good time reading and discussing this thread.

    Here we go:

    1. When God made time, he made plenty of it. (c) Irish saying
    - Seems to be OK. Checked the grammar as found this saying in the Internet.

    2. The better a woman the sooner the time and money fly away. Unknown author

    - I'm not sure that the adjective better suits well here. We are speaking about pretty (or nice) woman and using a comparative degree of it. So may be prettier or nicer? Or more attractive ...? What do you think would sound good for you?

    3. Mess (or disorder) makes us slaves. Today's mess decreases the next day's freedom. (c) Henry Amel

I would appreciate if you would point any grammatical or another error you might find here.

    Thanks, Alex.

It's been long since I started this thread so I decided to bump it.

However, the question still remains the same. How do you feel, the 2 and 3 are correct?

    Thanks, Alex.

Is it a Russian saying? What is the Russian adjective?

The adjective comes in Russian as красивый - красивее.

I would translate it to "the prettier".

What do you think about #3? I would go for disorder, the rest part of the sentence seems good to me.

It is the lack of order which makes us slaves; the confusion of to-day discounts the freedom of tomorrow

I copied the sentence from here:
