    Default James's house

    Hello,

My question today has to do with the saxon genetive pronunciation.
    Let's see, when you say:

    James' house or James's house

Is there any difference in pronunciation?

    Thank you

    (1) Of course, I take this question very personally!!!

    (2) When you speak about my house, the "rules" call for

your pronouncing it "Jameses" house -- no matter how

    you write it.

    (3) Nevertheless, some (many?) native speakers would

refer to my house as "James" house if written as James'

house. My name, however, is "James," not "Jame."

    Sincerely,

    JAMES

Thank you very much, Ratoncolorao, for the kind words and helpful link.

The BBC is one of my favorite news and language

    sources.

As the article said, the choice is up to you. I know that

whichever choice you choose, it will be the right one for

    you.

    Sincerely,

    James
