how long vs how much time

    Dear teachers...

Could you shed some light on this?

I've been told that 'how much time' is no longer used, and 'how long' is the new way to go.

    For example:
How much time do you have left?
How long do we have left?

    Thanks

    Not true, in my opinion.

How much time do you have left? ......How long do we have left?

    Both of these are fine.
