    Query regarding the use of "ON"

    Can we say "Yesterday, I was on Water." for "Yesterday,I took water only" like the way we say "I was on fast."

    You could, but without further context it would be very ambiguous; it could mean that you were on a boat. If you were discussing various diets, it might be understood to mean that yesterday you only drank water. As for "I was on fast," it is not idiomatic in AmE.
    You would be more likely to hear "I was on a fast" or "I fasted."
