Default What's the meaning of this?!

What does "to set the aim" mean?

    - If you don't set achievable aims you are more likely to give up.

an "aim" is a "goal" or an "objective". It is something you want to accomplish. For example, I could set an aim to get a good grade (mark) in my Science class. If you are familiar with the concept of aiming a gun, this has a similar meaning, but it is being used as a noun rather than a verb.

I don't like this. You set goals. You aim to achieve the goals. You don't set aims. Sounds ugly.

I agree, we set goals not aims.
