    spike with black eyes

    Dear all,

What is the meaning of the expression "spike with black eyes"

[there’s days that I think his whole “spike anything with black eyes” plan wasn’t half bad]

I havent got a clue for ""black eyes" except that it's "black area around the eyes. It doesn't make sense"

    Thanks.

    More context would be helpful.
