    Default fork

    Dear all,

In the following convo, Does "fork" has a literal meaning? What does it refer to?

A: You don't like flying and I guess a nine hour plane trip was no picnic. What’d you do, drink your way through it?
    B: I was fine.
C: No. He white-knuckled his way through four puke bags.
B: Well, at least I was sober. Some nutjob decided to try something, I was ready. I had a fork.

What "fork" has to do with anything, I can't get it.

    Thanks for you all.

I don't know. Can it mean "I was courageous enough" or something like that?

Or I was "too scared"? confusing.

    Thanks.

I think it's meant to be sarcastic:

Well, at least I was sober. Some nutjob decided to try something, I was ready. I had a fork = If a crazy person decides to try so do something dangerous on the aeroplane, I am ready to deal with them. I even have a fork!!!

Of course, a fork won't really be much help if there's a hijack or a bomber on the plane, but I guess it's better than nothing!

You always provide the answers with the things that other people may think it's clear... but you really provide the missing stuff. I was thinking "try something" mean what? !! May be If I knew the meaning I wouldn't have asked for the meaning of "fork" Can you get me?

Thanks a lot for you all. It's the best forum.
