Hello.

(1) I am sure that other members join me in welcoming you to usingenglish.com.

(2) It seems that the best way to improve your vocabulary can

be summed up in one word: READ.

(a) Read as much as you can.

(b) Every day you will find words that you do not know.

(c) Make sure you have a good dictionary that gives you not only

the definition but also the etymology of the word. "Etymology"

means how the word was "invented."

(i) "She is wealthy." If you look in your dictionary, you find that

it means something like "rich." Then if you study its etymology,

you discover that it comes from the word "well." This will help

you to remember that word: If you have lots of money, I guess that

you can live very "well."

(d) Keep a list of your favorite words. Use them in your writing.

(e) When you have time, play this game. Choose any word. For example,

choose the word " beautiful." Then see how many times you can find it

in a newspaper or book.

(3) It's wonderful that you want to build up a big vocabulary. It will

help you achieve success in life. Remember that some words are to be

used in speech and some words are usually restricted to writing.

GOOD LUCK

[STRIKE]hey[/STRIKE] Hi. I want to improve my vocabulary. [STRIKE]and[/STRIKE] How i can improve it?

Welcome to Using English. You have already been given good advice about reading. I would also recommend the simple process of challenging yourself to learn at least one new word every day.

Learn the word, the definition and a sentence which includes the word in order to help you remember how to use it.

You will notice some changes I made to your original post. When you are writing in English, you need to remember to use capital letters at the beginning of every sentence, to always capitalise the word "I" and to use punctuation.

Hi, I am also a learner.

Thanks, James for your thorough and wonderful reply!
I have found it very usefull for myself!

Have you got antother tips you might share with us ?

Now, it sort of a personal question. James, as far as I concerned you are a native, aren't you? Given that you are thinking like a learner (who is a native!), I made a suggestion that must be hiding from us that you are a teacher. :) If I am wrong then you 100% should teach!

Thanks, Alex.

Hello, Alex:

Thank you very much for your overly kind words.

I really do not deserve them.

The ones who do deserve them are the teachers who have
been answering every kind of question throughout these many years.

I do not need to name them. You know who they are. Learners
ask all kinds of the most difficult questions, and the teachers always
answer them. I do not even try to answer most questions, because
I can't.

Usingenglish.com is a success because it has conscientious students like you to ask questions and it has highly qualified teachers to give accurate answers. A beautiful combination.
