    occupation??

    What would you call a person who works for the City Council House and whose daily routine consists of ?:

    1)security surveillance (monitoring corridors through security cameras)
    2)client sercice (receiving guests and guiding them to the right rooms)
    3)receiving meeting room reservations through mail,phone,eyeball contact)
    4)Guiding guests when it comes to audiovisual or other technical apparatus (photocopier,video canon computer etc)
    5)opening/shutting doors,turning on/off lights, activating/deactivating the burglar alarm

    2-4 would be a receptionist. If their duties included 1 & 5, then I'd keep the name.

    I have been suggested:

    1) front office clerk
    2) administrative assistant (sounds too good)
    3) security officer

    Because of its versatile nature it's difficult to figure out, but I think I'll stick to your suggestion.
    Sometimes I think that "an idiot/scapegoat" would be suitable description.

    1&5 are the duties of a security officer. At least I can imagine our security officers doing all this

    It seems that they're trying to save on staff costs by getting the receptionist to take on extra duties. Maybe 'dogsbody' would be the best.
