    Default Manifest and Gothic novel

Manifest (latin manifestus) is a text which proclaims the basic principles of a new literary movement, and it antagonizes hitherto ruling norms.
Gothic novel first appeared at the time of early romanticism in England. It is a novel full of horror and dark plots, and usually with medieval themes.

Please correct this text if needed.

    Thanks

A manifest is also a list of cargo loaded on a ship.

Another text; if needed, please correct:

After that, as a consequence of utterly oligarhican constitution, many long-standing battles between nobility and the masses took place. Since the whole country was handled by a good few, poor with their wives and children had to be the slaves of riches. They would fall into slavery if they didn't hand over the leasehold they had gained previously.

    Thanks
