A. Yesterday his wife denounced him to the police because he leads a professional group to steal luxury convertibles and an illegal football betting ring.

Does this make much sense and sound natural at all?

Denouncing is a rarely used word in my experience, but it has to do with reputation, social standing, or authority.

You might denounce your lying, cheating, thieving spouse within your social circle, but if you are telling the authorities about illegal activity, you are doing more than denouncing.
