    strange

The time was very late. + I arrived home at that time.

    If we combine them together,

it would be "The time when I arrived home was very late."

But I think it could be combined like this, "The time was very late when I arrived home."

    Am I right?

    Thank you.

    Re: strange

We don't generally use "The time" + late or early. We use "it".

    - What time is it?
    - The time is 6am / It's 6am

    - What time is it?
    - It's very early. NOT: The time is very early

    - What time was it when you got home.
    - I don't know the exact time but it was very late. NOT: The time was very late.
