    strong point/ get on

    Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to give me your considered opinion concerning my interpretation of the expressions in bold in the following sentence?

But with all her education, learning was never Kateís strong point; she got on perfectly well without it.

strong point = strong suit = something at which a person excels

get on = prosper or succeed

In this context, yes to both. Although you could also say that she didn't necessarily prosper or succeed, she may have just existed/survived quite happily without it.
