What does "drive by" mean?
Incidentally, 'drive-by' has a specific use with reference to gun crime - the phrase 'a drive-by shooting' is often abbreviated to (just) a 'drive-by' - informal, and mostly Am Eng (because we don't do that sort of thing so much over here )
The drive-by is not to be confused with the drive-thru, another product of our love affair with the automobile.
