    Question What does "teller" mean?

ATM stands for " Automated teller machine". I just want to know what teller implies here.

A "teller" is an AmE word for a cashier, the person who sits behind the desk at a bank and deals with the customers. Even though we say ATM in the UK, we don't use the word "teller". We would normally say cashier.

So the cash machine is like an automatic teller.
