    Question Pronunciation of powerpoint+liaison

    Hello,

Could you please tell me if the pronunciation of this word is correct:

Powerpoint/paʊərpɔɪnt/, but in our daily life we pronounce it half English half French.

    Another remark:
When I was watching a grammar's video I heard that the speaker who seemed to be an American, did not make the liaison in the following sentence: He has an English book.Is it necessary to make the liaison, isn't it? Or I misheard the pronounciation of "An English".

Thank you very much in advance.

Yes, it is necessary, but some people speak poorly.

/paʊərpɔɪnt/Yes, for AmE. In BrE it would be /paʊəpɔɪnt/.

No, the sounds aren't the same. /aʊ/ is not the same as /au/ in IPA.
/au/ in your system may be the same as /aʊ/ in IPA, but then how would you transcribe the sound made by /au/ in IPA into your system?

I think the expression 'the sounds are the same as the IPA' means something like 'for the purposes of a very imprecise transcription of those speech sounds used in Standard English'.

What system is this? Please do not confuse people by using unknown systems. You are making grand claims about a method of transcription but as we don't know what it is and you haven't given the name, it's just confusing.
