Hi,

Question:
is it possible to "reduce" the Non-Defining Relative Clauses?
The following sentence is found from a newspaper.

I guess the original sentence is :
The worst case scenario would see cuts totalling £33m during the next year, which means more than 700 jobs would be lost.

Sentence from newspaper:
The worst case scenario would see cuts totalling £33m during the next year, meaning more than 700 jobs would be lost.

so, the writer reduced which means to meaning
agree?

thanks

Hi,

can I ask you a further question?

I think it can be a Modifying Sentences with Verbal Phrases.

Ie, original sentences are:
The worst case scenario would see cuts totalling £33m during the next year.
The worst case scenario means more than 700 jobs would be lost.

so, the sentence
The worst case scenario would see cuts totalling £33m during the next year, meaning more than 700 jobs would be lost.

can be a result of Reducing Non-Defining Relative Clauses or Modifying Sentences with Verbal Phrases.

agree?

thanks
