[Idiom] expressions to describe a foolish person

Hi, :)

There are some phrases with the sense "to be foolish":

To have nothing between one's ears;
Daft as a brush;
Not to know enough to come in out of the rain;
To be slow in the uptake;

Do you use/ know other phrases with the same sense?

Most of those (1,3 & 4) are more to do with stupidity/low intelligence, aren't they?

I agree with Tdol, there's a difference between being stupid and foolish.

But while we're talking about stupid people, you can say someone is:
as thick as a brick
as dumb as a post
a few sandwiches short of a picnic
not the sharpest knife in the drawer
not the brightest bulb in the chandelier

Can we also use "To be soft in the head" in this context?

Yes, and thick as a plank (or two short planks), bottom feeder, dipstick, etc

Actually, I was under the impression that 'bottom-feeder' is someone dating his friend's ex?
