be taken from and be derived from are slightly different right?

In my view, "be taken from" is to say that the exact same quote (or the look) was used and was taken from the game of poker.

And "be derived from" is to say the jargon is originated from the game of poker, but has already changed in its look.

Is that right? or there isn't a difference there?
