    kəʊɪn'saɪdəns

In the 1935 film A Tale of Two Cities, I heard

ts ə kəʊɪn'saɪdəns tu:. ts wɒt aɪ meɪd əv ɪt miself.

Have you ever heard this pronunciation of "coincidence"? Why did the man use it?

    Re: kəʊɪn'saɪdəns

It's not a pronunciation I have come across. It might be meant ironically.

    Re: kəʊɪn'saɪdəns

Was it said by a 'lower-class' character - i.e. one who might be expected to mispronounce big words?

ps. Oh, I see that konungursvia suggested this point in the other thread.
