The techniques effectively work to portray the ideas of self-confidence and body image. The mood is encouraging the reader to believe in him/herself that no matter what anyone says they are also beautiful.
Emotive language is used in the song to portray ideas and emotions. The emotive language used within Aguilera’s song allows the reader or listener to identify with these emotions or ideas of feeling insecure. The song therefore brings the readers or listeners feelings into context, allowing them to identify with the depressing mood. Once the audience has been able to identify with the song, they will begin to feel the impact of the songs aim, which is to create a feeling of self-confidence. Emotive language used in the song, for instance includes, “Now and then I get insecure” and “hurt”. Alliteration is also used within the song for a similar effect.
Alliteration is used in the song to portray ideas and emotions. Alliteration used within Aguilera’s song allows the listener or reader to discover these ideas or emotions of expressing encouragement. The song therefore catches the listener’s or reader’s feelings into perspective, allowing them to identify with the song, they will begin to feel the pressure of the songs aim, which is to create a feeling of self confidence in their body image and to remember that everything is going to be fine in the future. Alliteration used in the song, for example “the sun will always shine”. Repetition is also used within the song for a similar effect.

Therefore repetition works to portray ideas and emotions of self confidence in the song.

This includes the use of emotive language, alliteration and repetition to illustrate the main idea of being confident in one’s self. This is also associated with the emotion of feeling insecure.
