    Default quoted, unquoted

    (quoted)
There are guns, tools, handmade sweaters and throws and some furniture. (unquoted)

Is the above format correct for the writings quoted from other sources?

I believe what you mean is quote and unquote.
Where do you intend to write this? Isn't it easier to just use quotation marks?

    not a teacher

No. This is not a correct way to quote an author's text!
    Have a look here:
    Referencing - The Harvard System

If you just want to make clear that the specific text isn't your own creation: put it in quotation marks or italics.
