there are now a lot of debates regarding historic buildings and whether they should be preserved or torn down or not. While some people say that historic buildings should be preserve, while some other people want to demolished them to build more modern buildings. From my perspective, i think we should retain them for the following reasons
Firstly, historic buildings serve as an important milestone of the past accomplishment. The Forbidden City in Beijing is such an example. It represent for the Chinese's prosperous era. Despite no longer having the emperor, china still proud of it's history and what past emperor has helped it to develop. These structure is too far important to be torn down for commercial purpose. It is not just like normal building, it is the matter of a nation's pride and respect to their ancestor's accomplishment
In addition, Old buildings are important source of inspiration for architects and other designers. Through studying the structure of old building, the designers are capable of making more attractive building. According to recent research, it's said that 20% of the new buildings originate from the old ones. Moreover, from collecting personal ideal, 79% of people prefer the building with mixture of historical and modern style to the building with the modern style only
Supporter of destroying old building may say that maintaining historic building is waste of money and land .However, this theory has some merits on the surface. We can have many moderns building as much as we want but the historic building is unique, once we destroy them, we will never can see them again. Therefore, it's not waste of money and land to preserve our unique beauty.
In short, Historic buildings play an indispensable role in reflecting history, and enhancing inspiration. Government should think carefully before demolishing the unique treasure —old buildings.

The bits I've crossed out are padding, which says nothing - unless you can find an intelligently newway of saying what is already taken for granted as the basis of the essay.

Be careful of switching from plural to singular subjects, and try to get the S-V agreement right. Put an 's' on the end of plurals.
Leave a space after a comma and a full stop - always.
Practice your articles - 'a', 'the'

Don't start an essay like this:
"Should a city do A or B?".
"Recently, there has been much debate about whether a city should do A or B . Some people believe that a city should do A, whereas others believe that B should be done."
Think of an opening which the other 3 million students haven't written.
