Are these sentences natural? August 13

    Hi,

Are the following sentences natural to a native ear?

    1. I figured I would be able to complete that part at the end.
    2. Please prepare the document but wait for my confirmation before you send it out.
    3. I still receive calls to keep in touch with our customers. (I am saying that I still take calls even though I donít have to)

    Thanks,
    MG.

1.This is okay. It sounds like someone asked you why you haven't done "that part" yet.
    2. A comma before "but."
    3. Not really. It sounds (to me) like someone is calling you and saying "Hey, remember to keep in touch with your clients."

I still enjoy taking calls from our customers so we can keep in touch.
I still take calls from our customers, so I can stay in touch.

(It sounds a bit social, though. After the big sale, you became friendly. Otherwise, why would they call you?)
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

    My opinion:

    2. Please prepare the document, but wait for my confirmation before you send it out. Sounds fine to me, though I'd put a comma in the written version.
    3. I still receive calls to keep in touch with our customers. (I am saying that I still take calls even though I donít have to). It's just about possible in the right call, though 'take' sounds more natural to me. Without context, my first idea was that it meant, "people still call me (asking me) to keep in touch with our customers". Your intended meaning would be clearer if you put 'in order' in front of 'to'; even then, it's still clearer with 'take', which is more active than the passive 'receive'.
As I said, just my opinion.

Bother. Barb beat me. Still, we do agree. Fortunately.
