    increased visibility

    Hello,

Is it possible to paraphrase "increased visibility" as "elevated status" in the the following context:

Why is it that some people get promoted while others, maybe you, sit on the sidelines and watch as bigger titles, more money and increased visibility will be passed out.

    Thank you in advance.

I actually prefer "elevated status" to "increased visibility". Note, though, that "are passed out" works better at the end than "will be passed out". It agrees with "you sit in the sidelines".

    Re: increased visibility

    Hello,

My question relates to the following video:

Why You're Not Getting A Promotion | Leila's House of Corrections | BNET

I am turning it into an educational video that can be dealt with when we start the topic "Organisations".And later on, the students will transcribe the video and then dub into Russian on an American site as part of translation practice course. So I am trying to find suitable definitions in Russian.

Heaven help you if you are working with material like that. However, if you are stuck with it, I agree, to a certain extent, with emsr2d2 - 'elevated staus' is less bad than 'increased visibility'.

"Less bad"! Talk about damned by faint praise!

    Hello,

Is anything wrong with this video?
The thing is the third unit in the course book we are going to use this new school year is called "Organisations". I thought I might use this video to generate discussion about promotion.
I have already turned another video by Leila into an educational one with a multiple choice exercise, vocabulary notes and trabscript and uploaded it at eslvideo.com, it was viewed by about 800 people.

If you are teaching American oriented business English, it's OK.
